My current situation
We hear a lot that we should be entrepreneurs, start our own things, be free from white dominance economically etc. Ja, its easy said than done. Julius' words are starting to become repeated even by smart guys nowadays like '' buy shares... buy shares with what?'' That's my point. I started an accounting business last year only to fail even before going nowhere. I know bookkeeping is not exactly glamorous and big monied, but I had made my plans was looking for job satisfaction and building something everyone will be proud of- not to get rich quickly no! But what can i say, I obviously made some grave mistakes before going into business. One, and only one error cost me. I never got people to sign on the dotted line or at least give me promise that they will use my services. The end result was that I was knocking on a number of CFO's doors looking for business without any luck. Which brings to something I want to complain about. Our own black people like to say how much they are committed to transformation blah blah... Bull man! Those were the people dismissing my proposals faster than even the white afrikaner males. Ja, you can say maybe I am in an economically inferior area of our country etc I should be in Jozi ...I dont wanna go there! Our commitment to change our country is not a joburg thing. Everyone in this country is a entitled to a piece of the cake. Okay, going back to my complaint: The black senior managers in public service are very quick to appoint a service who is white than us black people. For example I am currently seconded to a provincial department under the name of a big multinational. The way the contract works is that I am personally contracted and liable for my actions but the cheque goes to the company that employs me. My point being that its my cv which got the job and the companies'. Had I applied for the contract on my own not being affiliated with the company I wouldnt get the contract even though the experience and qualifications and the person is the same. Talk about hypocrisy. (Dont worry I have a solution for all these my problems but let me indulge in the complaining for now). You find that they dont want to give you an appointment when you are Moletsane & co. but will jump to see you when you are from say Arthur Andersen. Why? Sucks man! That is what I call improsend minds. Why focus on the person rather than the task to be done? Ja. I just want all of us to succeed and partake in our economy, so that we have less crime, less poverty, the list is endless. Its not that Im only pushing my black youth agenda but we wont make it in the future at the rate we are going. Crime and poverty will eat our future.

I'm here!
Finally, Im so technologically behind. Tjo! Im doing this for the very first time. Ke gorogile. I am dedicating this to people who would like to know my experiences and aspirations as a young entrepreneur in South Africa today, and more specifically in the accounting field. Just to say who I am: Im a black South African, completed articles training with one of the big four audit firms and now working for another of the big four. I believe myself to be pro-african or whatever you call it- but basically I believe that we have to help africans to be economically free. I believe poverty does not belong with our people and also strongly support BEE even though I have strong negative opinions about it. That's in a nutshell.
